My name is Dr Charlotte Boulton and I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years' experience working in the NHS. I have an honours Degree in Experimental Psychology, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

Since qualifying I have worked mainly with adults in community mental health settings. However, over the past 14 years I have specialised in diagnosing adults with Autism Spectrum Conditions and providing them with post diagnostic support using a range of individual and group therapies.

My approach has always been to tailor the therapies I have been trained in which include; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I work non-judgementally with people on their unique and specific hopes, challenges and expectations.

Clinical Conditions I treat include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety, including social anxiety, generalised anxiety, phobia and panic
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Issues with identity following diagnosis
  • Adjustment issues, life transitions and change
  • Social difficulties
  • Problems with emotional regulation
  • Perfectionism and avoidance

In autism in particular, clients bring many strengths to therapy. One of the most enjoyable parts of my work is to collaboratively help discover these strengths and use them creatively to tackle current issues and difficulties.
