Hello, I’m Clarissa Lord, a Clinical Psychologist with ten years of experience working within the NHS.
I hold an Honours Degree in Psychology from Huddersfield University, a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Forensic Psychology from Newcastle University, and I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton in 2023.
I am deeply committed to supporting both young people and adults through their challenges, and I find great fulfilment in making a positive difference in their lives. I believe in the transformative power of therapy to help individuals navigate difficult times, build resilience, and cultivate self-compassion and emotional well-being.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working in a wide range of NHS settings, including specialist services such as mental health rehabilitation, psychosis, forensic services, and local community adult and children’s teams. This diverse experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of the mental health challenges people face across the lifespan, allowing me to support clients with a wide variety of issues, including:
To further enhance the support I offer, I am currently undertaking specialised training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), alongside drawing on other therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). These approaches enable me to provide a flexible, integrated style of therapy that is tailored to each person’s unique needs and circumstances.
I believe that therapy is most effective when it’s a collaborative and personalised process. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where we can work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. Whether you are dealing with long-standing issues or navigating more recent struggles, I am here to support you in finding lasting solutions that can make a real difference in your life.
Outside of work, I am passionate about staying active and spending time in nature—whether that’s walking, hiking, or simply enjoying the outdoors. I also practice yoga, which helps me maintain a sense of balance and calmness.
